Daggett Dominates Debate

Listen to the whole debate live at WNYC.org. Or watch it on News12 Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and Sunday 2pm.

The New York Times
But the two were constantly harassed by a pesky Christopher J. Daggett, the independent candidate, who pointed to a new poll that showed him within striking distance, and who taunted Mr. Corzine and Mr. Christie over property taxes, corruption and the environment.

The hourlong debate, broadcast on the jazz station WBGO in Newark, broke little new ground, but allowed the three men to deliver their closing arguments.

The two major-party rivals offered a positive case: Mr. Christie promised to deliver a needed “change of direction” and strong leadership, while Mr. Corzine warned that he alone would fight “for what matters most.”

Mr. Daggett slashed freely, assailing the Democratic governor’s “failed fiscal policies” and saying that Mr. Christie’s campaign lacked “substance” and “intellectual integrity.”

News12 does not appear on cable television south of southern Ocean County, where it is Channel 62. But Young said the station will archive the debate on its Web site, news12.com, and make it available to people who are not subscribers.

Comcast will carry the debate starting next week on demand for digital subscribers of its cable service
